MOVING TOGETHER – SOUNDTRACK OF THE 80S
Event description
Let go of your inhibitions and just dance, dance, dance.
Led by professional dancer, Hayley Allen-Freeman, Moving Together - Soundtrack of the 80s is perfect for anyone looking to start from scratch or get back into groove in a comfortable rhythm. Dancers are encouraged to wear what they feel comfortable to move in. No prior dance experience is necessary.
Whatever you thought of the fashion, the 80s fuelled some absolute bangers. From house to hip-hop, college rock to techno, bubble-gum pop to post-punk, heavy metal to hardcore. Move along to anthemic dance tracks by the Cure, Grace Jones, Human League, Madonna, Neneh Cherry, New Order, Run-D.M.C. and Aerosmith, Salt-N-Pepa, Talking Heads and Van Halen.
Key health benefits of dance for mature movers:
- Enhances aerobic power, muscle endurance, strength, flexibility, balance, agility, cardiovascular and bone health, energy level and weight management.
- Reduces symptoms of depression, lowers dementia risk, and boosts self-esteem and confidence.
- Encourages social connection, appreciation, and consideration for others, fostering acceptance, understanding, and sensitivity within a diverse community.
This class is inclusive for people with disability. Caregivers are welcomed and may attend the class with the participant at no extra cost to ensure every dancer has the support they need.
