Event description

Join Colin Meurk for this full day out on the flanks of Mt Herbert and Mt Bradley as part of a City Nature Challenge

involving over 500 cities around the world endeavouring to record as many natural history observations on iNaturalist NZ – Mātaki Taiao (https://iNaturalist.nz ) as possible during the 4 day event (26-29th

April). The purpose of this particular trip is to cover the full elevational range and associated diversity of Ōtautahi-Christchurch. It will be a great day out. Participants need to have joined the iNaturalist App (details to follow) and be physically comfortable spending a day on their feet slow climbing up to about 900metres.

This will be a full day of slow/steady walking with stops to learn and record sightings and observations – of plants, birds, insects, fungi, and furry creatures.  The group will stick together but spread out at specific sites to make recordings in a wide range of forest, scrub, grassland and rocky habitats.

Keep track of how we are doing on the City Nature challenge website.

This event is being supported and organised by the Rod Donald Trust and Te Ahu Pātiki Trust as part of the City Nature Challenge.  Participants will have to register their participation and contact information using the
