MUM CHA - Joe Kwon (Confit Pathways) & Shaun Christie-David (Plate It Forward)
Event description
Plate It Forward’s beloved Mum Cha series returns with a truly special duo—social entrepreneur Joe Kwon and his mother, Do-Young Kwak, a world-travelled opera singer and professor who counts “surviving Joe’s childhood” among her greatest achievements.
Do-Young has captivated audiences across Russia, China, the US, Japan and Australia with her powerful voice, while Joe’s journey has been one of transformation—once incarcerated for leading a criminal enterprise, he has rebuilt his life to become the founder of Confit Pathways, mentoring young people at risk and championing justice reform. Together, they bring to the table powerful stories of resilience, family and second chances.
Hosted by Plate It Forward Founder Shaun Christie-David and his mum Shiranie, this eight-course feast invites you to laugh, listen and savour dishes rooted in memory and culture. An afternoon of food, music and connection, it’s a celebration of mothers, their children and the power of food to bring us together.
