We respect and acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of Dharawal Country, Elders past and present, and extend that respect to other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Season four of Music and Tea at the Gallery presents new faces and follows the journey of two of our previous artists, Beatrice Colombis and Annable Wouters.

Jimmy Park violin | Alexander Yau piano

Jimmy's violin journey has been nurtured by, among others, Rowan Harvey-Martin (Canberra) and Pr. Ole Bohn (Sydney Conservatorium of Music). He is a featured artist in the Oslo City Museum Concert Series, reached the semi-finals of the 2023 Lipinski International Violin Competition (Poland), the finals of the 2023 Kendall National Violin Competition and won the

2022 Princess Galyani Vadhana International Ensemble Competition with the Elan Trio.

Alexander Yau, a Master of Performance from the Julliard School of Music, New York, and was selected for the highly competitive 2023 Sydney International Piano Competition.

Molly Ryan soprano | Jamie-Lee Xu

Molly and Joanna have performed concerts and recitals at the Sydney Conservatorium and the University of Sydney, where both are master's students and recipients of scholarships and multiple awards. Molly won the 2023 Demant Dreikurs Song Scholarship, is a sought-after soprano for operatic roles and concert performances, and featured soloist in the Illawarra Choral Society' Crowning Glories' in 2023. Joanna was introduced to piano by her grandmother, who was an opera singer. After early success as a soloist, she shifted her focus to specialising in collaborative piano. She was awarded a travel scholarship to the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 2023 to advance her studies in expertise in this area.

Eric Avery | Marrawuy

Thursday 4 JULY | 11 am 

Eric Avery, Kabi Marrawuy Mumbulla, is a violinist, vocalist, dancer and composer from the Ngiyampaa, Yuin and Gumbangirr people of NSW. He works with his family's custodial songs and his haunting compositions often feature him singing while playing violin, predominantly in the Ngiyampaa language.

Quickly gaining an international reputation, Eric has appeared alongside and in association with some of the greatest artists of our time, from Yo-Yo Ma to Tina Arena. He has commissions and performances booked with Camerata Queensland, Ensemble Offspring, the JACK Quartet, Marrugeku and several of Australia's major orchestras. He is a 2021 Myer Creative Fellow.
