Break out the legwarmers for this one… winter is here and we’re choosing to embrace it!

International Yoga Day is celebrated annually across the globe, coinciding with the winter solstice.  

The aim of the day is to spread awareness of the many benefits yoga has to offer. Many people around the world join others in communal spaces to practice the art of yoga. The day also allows and encourages people to communicate the benefits of yoga, and spreads awareness to those who may not be familiar with the activity.

So join us at The Lighthouse Theatre to experience all the different types of yoga that are offered in our beautiful city. Warrnambool’s yoga instructors have united to offer up a yoga session every hour on the hour. Each session will be ticketed (for monitoring purposes) but will be offered for FREE. A perfect opportunity to give it a try!

BYO mat, water bottle, beanie and stretchy pants…we’ll supply the instructors and relaxing vibes!

Session Times:

9am - Hatha with 'Breathing in Yoga'

Cherie is a local yoga teacher who has been practicing yoga for roughly 20 years. Her passion is self-care and being able to hold space for people as they find their way back to their true selves through breath and movement. Cherie has been teaching yoga for three years and offers classes to people of all ages and abilities.

10am - Flow with 'Synergy Yoga for Wellness'

Yoga is more than just stretching on a mat in fancy tights. It's more than making funny shapes with your body. It's about stepping outside your comfort zone and the shape of your mind.

If you can breathe you can do Yoga, you don't have to be flexible, you don't have to be strong, you just have to show up and explore the spaces within and without.

Join Synergy Yoga for Wellness for an all levels yoga flow with options for everyBODY. Together we will explore yoga posture, breath and relaxation, leaving you ready to embrace your day.

11am - Family Yoga with 'Yoga with Danielle'

12pm - Mindful Movement with 'Yoga with Danielle'

Practicing Yoga with Dani brings awareness of body, offering a rest of mind. The movement is often slow and mindful, allowing time to feel into the stretch, notice sensation and find peace. This practice provides gentle challenges, relaxation and an encompassed connection to breath. Whatever is calling you, you will find it here, breath, rest, energy, flexibility, strength and a quiet mind.

1pm - Body Balance with Shae and Renee from 'Aquazone'

Join Shae and Renee from Aquazone for a 45 minute Body Balance class from the Les Mills global program.

You can except to bend and stretch through a series of moves taken from elements of tai chi, pilates and yoga with an inspiring soundtrack... which will leave you feeling good.

Body Balance is ideal for anyone and everyone. Shae and Renee have a combined experience of over 25 years and will tailor this class to suit first timers to experienced yogis!

2pm - Vinyasa with 'Movement with Nina'

Nina (she/her) is an embodied movement (Yoga and Pilates) practitioner with a passion for sustainable, alignment based movement that is strengthening, supportive and non-judgemental. Nina’s purpose is to hold space within the community for movement practices that allow students to explore the ways in which their body is designed to move, and the ways in which they love to move their bodies. Her priority is to deliver joyful, educational movement experiences, and a chance to connect and be present in your body.
