Nature Journaling Educator Workshop with LeAnne Vincent
Event description
Nature Journaling is the practice of observing and documenting your experiences in natural environments. Whether it’s in your backyard, a local park or on your travels, it’s a fulfilling way to learn about nature, and to connect deeper with your surroundings.
This 3-hour workshop will include a field trip (short walk) near the Condensery to observe sights, sounds, smells, forms, textures, and wildlife that inhabit the Cressbrook Creek area. We’ll make notes of our observations and collect organic and humanmade matter that we find on the ground. Back at the workshop space you will learn how to make cyanotype photograms of the collected objects using the natural elements of light sensitive iron salts, UV light and water. Using the paper cyanotype prints of our collected objects, and our notes made in the field, we will each make a concertina journal of our discoveries. We’ll then discuss how to use other types of journals that you can work on at home and use during your travels in nature.
This is a relaxed, science meets art, workshop of discovery with no drawing skills or art knowledge required. You will take home a completed concertina journal that will serve as a record of your experience of the Cressbrook Creek environment near the Condensery.
