Event description
This training is designed to empower environmental volunteers, local landholders and community members to learn more about, and help restore the biodiversity of our region – covering topics such as site assessment, restoration strategies and monitoring.
At Session 1, Fiona Cross from Edendale Nursery will present training on Site Survey and Assessment.
We will go through: resources on the Nillumbik Shire website, and other sites, how to get background information and map your site, how to determine and record flora and fauna, vegetation classes and condition assessments, how to zone areas by quality and disturbance level, and conservation management briefs.
Further sessions will be delivered next year covering: management objectives, developing a nature restoration plan and schedule; doing the restoration; monitoring and evaluation.
We will also have ample opportunity to network with fellow nature stewards and share nature restoration experiences.
