FAQs
- What is NetTalks?
NetTalks is a series of short, fast-paced talks about the Internet and digital technology in Aotearoa. Each speaker has six minutes to share an idea, story, or perspective about how the digital world is shaping our communities, culture, and future.
- Do I need to work in tech to attend?
No — NetTalks is designed for a broad audience, not just people in the tech sector. If you’re curious about how the Internet shapes our communities, culture, and future in Aotearoa, you’ll feel right at home.
- What makes NetTalks different from other tech events?
NetTalks is fast-paced and accessible. Instead of long presentations, you’ll hear six short six-minute talks, each offering a fresh perspective on digital tech and the Internet in Aotearoa. It’s designed to spark ideas and conversation rather than overwhelm you with technical detail.
- I’m new to these topics — will I still enjoy it?
Absolutely. NetTalks is built around stories, ideas, and real-world experiences, not technical deep dives. Whether you're deeply involved in digital policy or just curious about the future of the Internet, you'll find something interesting.
- Will there be time to meet people?
Yes. There will be time before and after the talks to connect with others, meet the speakers, and continue the conversation over drinks and nibbles. NetTalks is as much about community and discussion as it is about the talks themselves.
- What time should I arrive, and how do I access the venue?
Doors open at 5:30pm. We recommend arriving then to grab a drink and get settled before the talks begin at 6:00pm.
After-hours access: Guests arriving before 6pm can enter via either 57 Willis Street or 70 Victoria Street. After 6pm, entry is via 70 Victoria Street only. All guests must exit via 70 Victoria Street. - Who is running the event?
NetTalks is hosted by InternetNZ | Ipurangi Aotearoa, the organisation that manages .nz domain names and works to support a better internet for everyone in Aotearoa.
- Do you offer accessibility support at the event?
Yes — we offer accessible ticketing options, including wheelchair-accessible spaces and companion seating. If you have specific access requirements (such as mobility support or a sign language interpreter), please contact us at events@internetnz.net.nz ahead of time so we can support you.
