Never Die Young: A Musical Celebration of James Taylor Returns with Special TERI Band Appearance

Never Die Young is a musical celebration of James Taylor, bringing his timeless catalog to life with authenticity, soul, and masterful musicianship. Born from the longtime friendship of seasoned pros Tim Godwin and David Sheils, the band moves effortlessly from the intimate vulnerability of “Fire and Rain” to the upbeat groove of songs like “Your Smiling Face,” getting audiences out of their seats and singing along.​

Featuring the captivating vocals of Kylea Sheils alongside top San Diego players Ken Dowe (bass), Josh Weinstein (keys), Bob Sale (drums), and Larry Grano (vocals, drums, percussion), Never Die Young recreates the full spectrum of James Taylor’s artistry on stage. After two sold-out, fan-favorite shows at The Bornemann, they are back for a third appearance—bringing even more warmth, energy, and connection.​

Adding to this special evening, the TERI Band will make featured appearances—opening the night with their own inspiring performance and later joining Never Die Young onstage for a special collaboration—setting the tone for a joyful community celebration. The result is a one-of-a-kind concert experience that feels both nostalgic and fresh, perfect for lifelong James Taylor fans and new listeners alike.

About the TERI Band

The TERI Band is a joyful, high-energy ensemble made up of talented performers from the TERI Center for the Arts. Guided by Performing Arts Director Kyle Ramirez, the group showcases the abilities, creativity, and heart of each participant through music. Their performances blend uplifting songs, genuine connection, and pure enthusiasm, creating an inspiring concert experience that celebrates inclusion, community, and the power of the arts.
