You are invited to celebrate the opening of No place for mannequins: Remaking the fashion archive, a group exhibition exploring the shifting form and status of the contemporary fashion archive.

With: Alix Higgins, D and K, Femke de Vries, Hansol Kim, Justine Woods, Kyra Mancktelow, Marco Marino, Tim Hardy, Todd Robinson, and Library of Unruly Fashion Practices with XEROXED.

Curated by Dr Todd Robinson (UTS) and Dr Ricarda Bigolin (RMIT), the exhibition brings together eleven local and international practitioners and collectives who challenge the notion of the fashion archive as a centralised site of authority.

Published on the occasion of the exhibition, An index of wearing and reading fashion archives gathers photographs, sketches, references, and garments from the artists’ personal wardrobes, offering a unique snapshot of creative and research processes. Acting as an index to the exhibition’s curated works, the publication maps the ideas and materials shaping contemporary approaches to fashion archives.

With introductory essays by curators Todd Robinson and Ricarda Bigolin, the volume will be available for purchase during the exhibition dates.
