NSW CVRN – Networking Event 2025
Description
NSW CVRN NETWORKING EVENT 2025
Theme: Present with Purpose: Crafting Messages That Matter
The EMCR Networking Event has been held annually since 2021 to bring together Early- and Mid-Career Researchers (EMCRs) for connection, shared learning, and professional growth.
Each year, the event explores a relevant and timely theme through interactive sessions, guest speakers, and panel discussions. It’s a space designed for open conversation and community-building among researchers across cardiovascular research and beyond.
In 2025, the Networking Event will focus on Present with Purpose: Crafting Messages That Matter, featuring an engaging, hands-on workshop presented by The Honourable Pru Goward AO, followed by relaxed networking drinks. You can choose to attend both the workshop and the networking session or join just one part of the afternoon.

About the Workshop
Presented by The Honourable Pru Goward AO
Pru Goward has spent her career on both sides of the microphone — as a journalist and interviewer, as well as a minister and public figure. As a member of NSW CVRN, she brings unique expertise to this workshop focused on building effective presentation and communication skills.
In this 2-hour session, Pru will guide you through the core elements of a powerful presentation, followed by a hands-on component where you’ll work on your own draft presentation. The final part of the workshop will be an opportunity to present to the group and receive live, constructive feedback from Pru.
This interactive format is designed to boost your confidence and sharpen your advocacy skills — a vital tool for success in research, funding, and collaboration.
What to bring:
A presentation (~10–15 minutes) and slides — it can be an existing presentation
A device or materials to take notes (laptop, tablet, or printed slides)
