Event description

Nau mai, haere mai e ngā wāhine toa!

After a hugely successful first outing in 2019, NUKU Live 2.0 has grown to become an empowering two-day women’s event featuring the exchange of kōrero, Indigenous knowledge, systems and mātauranga Māori + Pasifika, with maker and movement workshops, panel discussions, spoken word poetry, exclusive Indigenous film, music and kai.

NUKU Live 2.0 is about sharing stories and experiences, while making Indigenous mātauranga more readily available for wāhine to connect, learn and be entertained and inspired.

Taking place at the culturally and historically significant Makaurau Marae in Ihumātao, topics will cover arts, entrepreneurship, orangatanga (wellbeing) and traditional Māori and Pacific knowledge practices including rongoā.

If you choose the exclusive V.I.P experience, you’ll also be treated to an overnight stay that includes taonga pūoro, an evening hīkoi with a focus on star constellations and navigation and, a dawn waka paddle on the Waitematā.

The word NUKU is derived from the atua Papatūānuku and represents the ultimate female essence. NUKU Live 2.0 is part of our creative and social impact storytelling movement that amplifies the voices of kickass Indigenous wāhine.

This women's wānanga is about connection and collaboration, a celebration of culture, story-telling, identity and female power. Kai will be locally sourced as much as is possible and menus will be designed to celebrate the region’s rich culinary flavours with a focus on Māori and Pasifika ingredients to acknowledge Ihumātao’s important heritage as the food bowl of Tāmaki Makaurau.
