Oamaru Stone Carving

Want to have a go at sculpting Oamaru Stone into something beautiful? Here's your chance! 

This 2 day workshop (10am - 5pm both days) is suitable for beginners. Experienced Oamaru Stone carver Peter Green will show you how to sculpt a koru with limestone then you will be able to design and work on your own patterns in a second piece.  

Oamaru Stone will be provided and some tools to share also. We will be working in a large garage at Hakatere Marae so wrap up warm if it's cold.

We are grateful to the Ashburton District Council Mayor's Fund for subsidizing the cost of running this course, enabling us to offer the 2 day workshop for $90 per person. Fantastic opportunity to have 2 full days of learning with a local expert, and then go home with 2 amazing stone pieces! Youth and adults of all genders and cultural backgrounds are welcome to join this wānanga. However, if you have done a course with Peter before, please don't book on to this one - we want to give other people a chance to learn this time round. 

Please bring your lunch with you each day and any of the following tools, if you have them. Eye protection is also recommended.
