Event description
Older Minds Matter: Online Workshop Series
Session Three: Delirium and Psychosis
Date: Wednesday 28th May 2025
Time: 11am to 1pm AEST (2 hours)
Location: Online
Description: Older people may experience delirium or psychosis due to various underlying factors, often associated with changes in physical health, medications, or cognitive function. In older individuals, especially those with pre-existing cognitive issues, delirium can be more prevalent and may result from a combination of medical and environmental factors. Psychosis, which involves a disconnection from reality, may occur in older individuals due to conditions like dementia, schizophrenia, or mood disorders. Identifying and addressing the specific underlying causes of delirium or psychosis in older individuals is crucial for effective management and ensuring appropriate medical and psychological interventions to improve their overall well-being.
