Part II | On Collecting
Description
This Autumn join the Duldig Studio Museum + Sculpture Garden for a three-part series. Creative practitioners, curators + collectors will share the motivations, practices + personal stories that shape a collection.
Part II: Collecting Contemporary + Emerging Art, with Andy Dinan
MARS Gallery director Andy Dinan has shaped conversations around contemporary practice, while guiding collectors in developing an eye for emerging talent. Her work spans exhibitions, international art fairs, and major public art commissions, giving her a unique view of how artworks move from studio to collection.
In this talk, Dinan will explore how collections take shape in the present moment - how to begin, what to look for, and how to develop confidence when engaging with new and emerging artists. She will reflect on the relationships, instincts and risks that underpin collecting today.
Andy Dinan is Director and founder of MARS Gallery, established in 2004 to champion emerging and mid-career Australian artists. Under her leadership, the gallery has presented over 250 exhibitions featuring more than 330 artists, and she regularly works across major art fairs, exhibitions, and public art commissions internationally.
She also founded ADA Consulting, delivering major public art and placemaking projects across Victoria, including significant contributions to the Level Crossing Removal Project. Andy is widely recognised for her enduring commitment to supporting artists and expanding Australia’s cultural landscape.
