We are proud to be celebrating ten years of Onespace. We have navigated through the uncertain early years of establishment and have found a strong sense of direction and purpose in artist representation and exhibition programming. The commitment and energy our team has invested, has created invaluable relationships with artists and industry collaborators, enabling us to build a gallery we are incredibly proud of.
Now representing some 20 artists and presenting up to 15 exhibitions annually, Onespace has established a strong and valued presence within the broader creative sector in Queensland and beyond. Over the past decade, we have brought countless projects to life, presented exhibitions, facilitated significant acquisitions and supported artists in the development of their careers, creating opportunities at every stage of their practice. There are many more stories still to come.
Most excitingly, It has been a privilege to watch our artists continue to extend their practices and reach new audiences and markets around the world. These international connections speak to the breadth of our artists' practices and the opportunities that have grown from a decade of dedicated support.
Our story has many main characters: our directors and team, our artists, collaborators and colleagues, partners, collectors, curators, supporters and the many audiences who have engaged with our work along the way. It is a complex and rewarding narrative set in changing times, with unexpected challenges and opportunities, requiring us to adapt, respond and continually find new ways forward. It is a story built on relationships, trust, shared ambition and a collective belief in the value of contemporary art.
We recognise each of you as an important part of this story and warmly thank you for being alongside us over the past ten years. Here’s to the next decade.
Holding Time
Measured in seasons, generations, and histories, time shapes our existence, our identities, and our environments, yet it remains intangible, impossible to hold. Exhibiting artists Dean Ansell, Rachael Bywaters, Elisa Jane Carmichael, Marian Drew, Sam Harrison, Tamika Grant-Iramu, Sebastian Moody, Elysha Rei, Brian Robinson, and Prita Tina Yeganeh respond to the multifaceted nature of time: what it signifies, how it informs their experiences, and how it might be rendered visible or tangible.
Each artist approaches time not as a singular or universal measure, but as a personal and subjective encounter. Holding Time explores the varied perceptions we hold of time, highlighting how individuals, cultures, and communities experience its elasticity in distinct and meaningful ways.
