    Level: AMEB grade 5+ or equivalent

    Approximately 20 mins per performer

    7 - 9PM OPEN BAROQUE STYLING WORKSHOP: MASTERING THE BAROQUE BOW

    Dive into the art of Baroque music with our specialised workshop focused on mastering the Baroque bow. Ideal for string players ABEMB grade 5+ (or equivalent), this series offers hands-on training in bowing techniques, historical insights, and interpretative skills unique to Baroque performance, deepening your understanding of performance practice and music of the time. Baroque bows provided! Although the focus is on string players in this workshop, all of the "styling" in this session is applicable to singers and any other instrumentalist.

    Masterclass and Workshop tutors:

    Helen Kruger - violin

    Helen is a Baroque specialist and graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, London. She spent almost 20 years working in the UK and Europe working with some of the world's best baroque orchestras, conductors and ensembles before coming back to her home town, Perth. Helen is the Artistic Director of Australian Baroque and Director of the Perth String Project.

    Edwina Cordingley - cello

    A Melbourne-based cellist and educator, Edwina studied in Edinburgh with David Watkin, before taking up an apprenticeship with Sir John Eliot Gardiner. Edwina went on to tour Europe with John Eliot in the English Baroque Soloists and the Orchestre Revolutionnaire et Romantique as well as The Gabriel Consort and Players. Now back in Australia, she performs with Australia's finest ensembles and orchestras and joins Australian Baroque for some of their 2024 regional-WA touring and community masterclasses.
