Our Dying Is Not Ours Alone: Greg Wise and Dr Kathryn Mannix in Conversation
Description
Greg Wise once imagined meeting his death alone on a cold mountain, with a large bottle of whisky. Through life, loss and the experiences explored in his new book, Grief Talking, he has changed his mind. He now sees dying as a precious time that matters deeply to the people who love us.
Join Greg and Dr Kathryn Mannix for a thoughtful, warm and honest conversation about dying, preparing and grieving, hosted by and for End of Life Doula UK as part of their Big Give events series.
Beginning with Greg’s change of heart, they will explore what happens as we die, how understanding the process can ease fear, and how conversations about our wishes can help us and the people important to us prepare. They will reflect on the legacy of our lives and relationships, how preparing for a death can shape bereavement, and finding ways to engage with grief, including Greg’s work encouraging men to talk about loss.
This will be a 45-minute discussion followed by an audience Q&A. The conversation (minus the Q&A) will be recorded and made available to anyone who purchased a ticket who can’t attend.
This event raises funds for End of Life Doula UK, supporting the charity's work to build understanding around death and dying, strengthen community caring capacity and improve experiences of dying, death and bereavement.
