Our Songs at Keon Park

Pack a picnic and join us for a family film screening of animated musical comedy Sing under the stars, plus a festive performance from local Latin-Australian band La Descarga. 

We’re celebrating the start of summer in style at Keon Park Children’s Hub. This event is suitable for all ages and everyone is welcome: bring your family, friends and a picnic basket!

La Descarga
La Descarga Quartet brings the irresistible rhythms of Colombia’s Caribbean coast to life with a vibrant acoustic mix of cumbia, gaita, tambora, and puya. Rooted in Afro-Colombian tradition, their performances are rich in folkloric textures — blending hand drums, traditional flutes, earthy vocals and call-and-response chants into an uplifting, high-energy experience. 

More than just a concert, their shows are immersive and interactive, inviting audiences to clap along, chant, sing, and join spontaneous dance lines that celebrate connection and joy. Whether on stage or in the streets, La Descarga Quartet channels the spirit of Colombian carnival — raw, rhythmic, and ready to move you. 

Film synopsis - Sing
Dapper Koala Buster Moon presides over a once-grand theater that has fallen on hard times. An eternal optimist, and a bit of a scoundrel, he loves his theatre above all and will do anything to preserve it. Facing the crumbling of his life's ambition, he takes one final chance to restore his fading jewel to its former glory by producing the world's greatest singing competition. Five contestants emerge: a mouse, a timid elephant, a pig, a gorilla and a punk-rock porcupine.
