Oura Oura & Glovers Flat Guided Visit 18.3.2023

Event description

The Liffey Valley in Tasmania holds a very special place in our hearts, as it is the birthplace of Bush Heritage Australia. Oura Oura and our newly acquired Glovers Flat reserves, are nestled below the peaks of Drys Bluff and are boarded by the beautiful Liffey River.  This is a stunning location to join Bush Heritage’s Lutruwita’s Healthy Landscape Manager Mike Bretz, for this guided visit.

Pack your sturdy walking shoes and picnic lunch for this day in the bush. The morning will start at Oura Oura and over a cuppa you will hear about these reserves and the work we are doing in the Liffey Valley.  We'll have time to have a relaxing wander around and see firsthand some of the new facilities and project work underway.  Then it’s time to grab your day pack, lunch and water bottle and it's off to explore Glovers Flat, just a short walk away.  Depending on timing and the weather, we may have lunch before setting off.

There is no formal walking track, apart from a short section at the start, so every step is a new discovery. Mike will safely guide us on this return walk, which we anticipate to be about 2-3km. The pace will be gentle, but the terrain can be hilly and uneven, so you need to have good mobility and fitness.  We’ll find a nice spot to perch on a log or meadow to enjoy lunch.  There will be plenty of time for looking and discussions, so bring your cameras and binoculars.   We aim to have you back at Oura Oura in plenty of time before finishing up around 3pm.

Date: Saturday 18 March 2023

Time: 10am to 3pm with formalities starting at 10.20am
