Outdoor Film Screening - The Magic Faraway Tree
Description
EVENT UPDATE 1pm Fri 17th:
There was quite a bit more rain overnight than forecast, so The Green is pretty soggy. Plus with more rain on the horizon, we’ve unfortunately decided to relocate tonight's screening to under the Northey Street City Farm office. It'll be protected from the elements, but sadly not under the stars surrounded by the magical tree canopy that fits so well with the film.
Food and drink will still be available from 5pm onwards, and if the weather is clear enough we’ll have braziers nearby for added warmth and atmosphere!
Some things to remember:
Rug up! It's going to be chilly, but we'll have a few braziers at the back if you need to warm up.
Bring an umbrella just in case. The area under the office is covered, but the rest of the site is open.
Seating: We'll have an assortment of chairs, but feel free to bring cushions for extra comfort, or a picnic blanket if you'd like to sit up front on the ground. Please be prepared to bunch up as space in the new location is much more limited.
The bar opens at 5pm, with hot chocolate (vegan/gluten-free), mulled wine, beer, Bundaberg soft drinks, and organic juices from our Nursery. Our Pie Stall will also be selling hot food, including vegan and some gluten-free options.
Start time: We'll aim to start the film as close to 6pm as possible. It runs 1 hour 50 minutes, and we'll aim to squeeze in a short interval around halfway.
Join us for a community screening of the 2026 film The Magic Faraway Tree.
Friday 17 July 2026 starting at 6pm, on The Green at Northey Street City Farm.
Bar open from 5pm, with drinks, popcorn, pies and sausage rolls (gf and vegan options available).
Pack a rug and enjoy the screening under the stars in the magical environment of Northey Street City Farm.
About the film: Every day, a new world awaits. From director Ben Gregor comes The Magic Faraway Tree, a magical family adventure based on Enid Blyton’s beloved classic, starring Andrew Garfield (Tim), Claire Foy (Polly) and Nicola Coughlan (Silky).
When siblings Beth, Joe and Fran move to the English countryside with their parents, they discover a towering magical tree hidden deep within the forest, home to eccentric residents including Moonface (Nonso Anozie), Dame Washalot (Jessica Gunning) and the ever-curious Saucepan Man (Dustin Demri-Burns).
At the very top, a gateway leads to ever-changing lands filled with surprises, mischief and adventure. As each new world unfolds, the children are swept into playful journeys that bring their family closer together.
With a stellar ensemble including Rebecca Ferguson and Jennifer Saunders, The Magic Faraway Tree is a joyful, imaginative big-screen adventure for audiences of all ages, where every visit promises something new.
