Event description
Paint Exmouth REaD!
The Exmouth Early Years Network is bringing a nationally recognised program, Paint The Town REaD to the Exmouth community!
This program encourages people to ‘read, talk, sing, rhyme, play, and draw' with children from birth, so they start school ready to learn!
Why is this important?
Our brains do most of their critical development in the first three years of life. Reading at birth will improve a child’s literacy and performance when they go to school. It also boosts their social skills, understanding, talking and brain development.
What’s Happening Around Exmouth?
Our mysterious Reading Egg has been popping up at story times all over town — and with every tale, rhyme, and giggle, it’s been growing stronger!
Rumour has it… it might just hatch during Children’s Week!
What do you think is hiding inside? Swing by the Library and share your guess — your imagination might be the key to cracking the shell!
Our Reading Egg is ready to Hatch!
Head down to the FREE Exmouth Children's Week event at the below times and witness the hatching of Paint Exmouth REaD's very own mascot!
Date: Tuesday, 21 October 2025
Venue: Federation Park
Hatching time:
Community session: 9.00am

Bring a Little Magic Into Your Business!
We're inviting local businesses and community spaces to be part of the magic by hosting one of our Red Boxes — each one filled with beautiful books and big adventures for children aged 0–5.
By hosting a box, you're not just adding a splash of colour to your space — you're helping families connect, learn, and grow. It’s a simple way to support early literacy and show your community spirit.
Could your business be the next home for a box full of imagination and wonder?
Let’s make reading part of everyday life — one story at a time!
