Patient Led Horizon Scanning: An Exploratory Workshop

Join us for an exploratory face to face workshop, delivered in collaboration with academics from The University of Sydney and supported by NSW Health.
This is an opportunity to join a forward-thinking conversation on the role of consumer input in shaping the future of healthcare for rare and ultra-rare communities.
During this half-day session, you’ll hear from experts in horizon scanning – the process of identifying and evaluating emerging health technologies – and discuss how community-led approaches, both formal and informal, can contribute to future horizon scanning approaches.

Learn about Horizon Scanning: Gain a deeper understanding of how emerging health technologies are currently identified, evaluated, and integrated into the healthcare system today.
Have your say: on the need for consumer engagement in Horizon Scanning, particularly in rare conditions, where populations often face unmet needs that the current system may overlook and how consumer-led horizon scanning activities can be better supported.
Collaborate with peers: Exchange ideas with other advocacy leaders and key stakeholders and explore how to better align a future national horizon scanning methodology with the priorities of your community.

Genetic Alliance will also be running two additional sessions just for community; A short pre-workshop online session “What is horizon scanning and why your voice matters (spoiler *you are probably doing this already*) and a short follow-up online session post workshop present back findings from the workshop.
