Perfect Pruning for Fruit Fly Control - Long Gully Community Garden

Do you have fruit trees in your garden? Do you want to learn more about managing fruit fly so you can have beautiful, bountiful fruit?
Come along to an interactive workshop with Katie Finlay, from Grow Great Fruit. Katie will show us how to prune our trees in summer to manage for fruit fly and ensure a generous harvest.
The workshops will cover:
- Basic theory of pruning trees (including what not to do!)
- How pruning maintains the health of trees.
- Pruning effectively to help you net your trees
- Pest management tips for Queensland fruit fly.
Should I come along?
Yes! Come if you:
- are wanting to grow, or are already growing fruit trees at home – this includes cherries, figs, apples, pears, peaches and more!
- Are renting a home with fruit trees in the backyard.
- are wanting to learn about fruit fly control in trees.
Please bring a pair of secateurs, clean and sharpened, and some protective gloves. The event will be held outside, so appropriate protective clothing is advised, such as a hat, covered shoes and gardening gloves.
There are two workshops available in the evening. As tickets are strictly limited, attendees are requested to only attend one to ensure everyone can attend.
