PICKWORTH MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT 2024
Ranking Competition for FOIL Events

Brian Pickworth represented NZ in the 1960 Rome Olympics and in the 1958, 1962, 1966 and 1970 Empire and Commonwealth Games.
Originally a keen Rugby player, he switched to fencing after an accident in which he lost his left arm above the elbow. He represented NZ in all three fencing disciplines and won a bronze medal in the sabre teams event at the 1960 Rome Olympics. In addition to gaining distinction as an Olympian fencer, he is also remembered as having been an active tennis player.

Entry is open to those 13 years and over at date of competition.

Entry Fees

Standard registration $30.00 plus booking and cc fees up to 23.55h on Thursday September 19th 2024.
Late entry is $50.00 plus booking and cc fees.

Late entries are subject to availability and at the discretion of the DT. Last entry is 23.55h on FRIDAY before the competition (September 20th 2024)

‘Out of Town’ Entries

This applies to any fencer from the FENCING NORTH REGION who does not reside in Auckland.
If you are a Fencing North member who lives outside of the metropolitan Auckland area, please contact the DT for a discount code.

EQUIPMENT STANDARDS

For foil and Epée, weights and gauges will be employed at the piste.

There will be no gear check for this competition but all clothing must be in a good state of repair.

Torso:		Minimum of 1150N protection. This can be made up of either a 350N Jacket with an 800N plastron or an 800N Jacket and a 350N plastron,
Breeches:		350N (CEN 1)
Masks:		All masks must fit well and be in good condition. The elastic strap shall be in good working order with elasticity and able to return to its original position after stretching without any deformation. The hook and loop securing the elastic shall be capable of retaining the elasticity and resisting removal. Leon Paul X-Change Masks must have a secondary strap or bar. Gloves:		Must be in good condition and have no hole for body wires. 800N gloves are required for Sabre.
Chest Protector:		Compulsory for Women’s events. Optional for Men.
Foil Specific:		Lame Bibs are required. Curly mask wires are not permitted. FIE blades are required with either Bayonet or 2-pin body wires. FIE no.3 size blades are acceptable
Épée Specific:		FIE blades are required. Leon Paul SR-71 blades date stamped 08-2012 to 06-2015 will not be accepted. Leon Paul V blades dated 08-2012 to 06-2015 without a unique serial number will not be accepted.
Sabre Specific:		FIE blades S2000 or later are required. Curly mask wires are not permitted

Affiliation/Membership

To compete in Fencing North competitions you must be affiliated with Fencing New Zealand as a FULL COMPETITIVE MEMBER. The FeNZ membership starts on 01/JAN and lasts a calendar year. Please always sign up with the same name, to help us accredit ranking points.

FeNZ affiliation fees are additional to the competition entry.
