Spanish Heath Weeding - Piano Coves 2025
Event description
Join TLC reserves officers for a day of hands-on conservation at Piano Coves Reserve!
Together, we’ll hand-pull Spanish heath (Erica lusitanica), helping to protect and restore the reserve’s natural habitat. This one-day event is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to Tasmania’s biodiversity alongside like-minded volunteers.
We will meet at Piano Coves Reserve, approximately 5kms south of St Helens. If you are travelling from further afield you will need to arrange your own accommodation and transport.
No prior experience is necessary, just bring your energy and passion for conservation!
By getting involved, you will:
Help control a highly invasive declared weed species to allow native vegetation restoration to occur.
Learn how to identify Spanish heath and the best methods of control
Meet and volunteer with other supporters in a beautiful location!
Who should apply:
St Helens and East Coast Tasmania residents or those who are keen to make a trip up that way.
Volunteers with a reasonable level of fitness, suitable for weeding in uneven terrain.
Getting Started:
After registration closes for this volunteering opportunity Gemma, Our Visitation Coordinator, will be in touch to arrange the next steps.
All equipment will be provided however please ensure you have your own accommodation if you are visiting the area and transport to and from the reserve.
