Placemaking in a built city
Description
Placemaking in a Built City
Following the earthquakes, Ōtautahi became known for temporary urbanism, creative experimentation and community-led placemaking. As the city has rebuilt, the context has changed - so what does placemaking look like now, and what role can it play in shaping the next chapter of our city?
Life in Vacant Spaces, in partnership with Placemaking Aotearoa, invites you to an afternoon of ideas, stories, provocations and conversation exploring where we’ve come from, where we are now, and what comes next.
We’ll hear from a range of voices about what it feels like to live, create and make things happen in Ōtautahi today. We’ll explore projects and ideas already shaping our city, some of the opportunities and challenges we face, and what might help Christchurch continue to be a place where people can experiment, participate, connect and belong.
This won’t just be an afternoon of presentations. Expect short talks, different perspectives, facilitated discussion, table conversations and plenty of opportunity to connect with others in the room - followed by drinks, kai and informal networking at Space Academy.
Thursday 15 October | 12.30–5pm
Networking, drinks & kai to follow
Space Academy, 371 St Asaph Street, Ōtautahi Christchurch
