Come along to hear about using beneficial native species as alternatives to environmental weeds to prevent 'garden escapees’
Environmental weeds can be a costly problem in our natural areas and cause negative impacts to our native flora and fauna.
This presentation by Ammie Jackson will cover -
what are garden escapees and why are they a problem
how garden plants escape
identification of some of Macedon's common weeds and the indigenous alternative to use instead

Ammie Jackson is the Landcare Facilitator for the Upper Deep Creek Landcare Network and Jacksons Creek EcoNetwork. She has worked in the environment and conservation industry for 20 years and has a passion for native flora. She lives in the Macedon Ranges and loves gardening, in her spare time she likes to teach workshops on foraging edible weeds.
Her talk will be preceded by a short AGM for Macedon and Mt Macedon Landcare.
