Planting Day! Restoring the Murrumbidgee (Wed October 14th)

Help Restore the Murrumbidgee and help be part of this areas environmental future!

Join us in a special community planting event along the Murrumbidgee in a hidden area that is crucial to the river. This is your chance to help restore one of Canberra’s less-seen natural corridors while contributing to the health of our broader river system.

We’ll be planting native vegetation to stabilise the creek banks, combat erosion, and bring life back to this important waterway. The planting site is in a beautiful, off-the-beaten-path spot which is perfect for those up for a bit of a walk and a bit of adventure!

What to expect: The walk into the planting site is a 10-15 minute walk in. The planting site is along the river. We will provide tools for the day, feel free to bring a pair of your favourite gloves if you have them. 

When: Wednesday October 14th 10:00am - 12:30p,m

Where: We will meet at the Old Tuggeranong Boundary Wall (See Below Map) Parking can be found nearby at the Lesuire Centre or along Anketell Street keep an eye out for SACTCG flag to mark the meeting spot. 

Bring: Sturdy shoes, gloves (if you have them) and a water bottle.   

IMPORTANT LOCATION INFORMATION PLEASE READ:

Meeting Location: Tuggeranong Boundary Wall

Finding the spot:

• The wall is along Athllon Drive, directly across from the Tuggeranong Leisure Centre.

• Look for our teardrop flag (you should be able to see it from the road.)

Getting there by car (two options):

1. If you don't mind taking you car along a rough dirt road:

   • Drive north on Athllon Drive, just after the traffic lights near the Leisure Centre.

   • You’ll see a rough driveway, you can pull off there and park nearby the wall.

   • ⚠️ This driveway is rough and might not be suitable for all cars

2. For all other cars

   • Park at the Leisure Centre or on Anketell Street.

   • Cross the road at the traffic lights.
