W09 - Playful Prints: Mono-printing with Gelli-Plates
Event description
Saturday 19th August 2023
Workshop Code: W09
10:00am to 12:00pm
18+
Max participants: 12
An invitation to slow down and give yourself permission to play. Take some time just for you to explore the wonderful art-making process of Gelli-printing.
Create your very own unique set of prints. Great for making postcards, cards, bookmarks, journal pages, and wrapping paper and can even be used for future collage work. We will be working with a variety of textures, including natural materials, as well as lace, foil, bubble wrap, stencils and other bits and bobs. Mixed media can also be added to create increasingly unique layers to your artwork. The options are endless!
This workshop offers a wonderful opportunity to work intuitively and express yourself creatively, rediscovering the magic of surprise that can be found in artmaking. It is also a great way to meet other curious artmakers. A perfect experience for beginners. No previous artmaking experience is required.
There will be a short, grounding practice involving drawing to music at the beginning of this workshop and an opportunity to come together at the end to reflect on the artmaking process (if you should wish to share).
Your facilitator, Briony, brings an empathic person-centred and trauma-informed approach to all her work. She enjoys creating supportive and nurturing spaces for people to explore their creative selves. She is also deeply passionate about exploring artistic practice as a way to deepen our human connection to the natural world. Briony finds eco-art and collage (including through the digital process) particularly inspiring and loves exploring different materials and processes. She believes that we are all ‘artists’ within our own lives, and that by expressing ourselves creatively, we continue to nourish our mental, physical and spiritual well-being.
