Poets@Stones: Queensland's boutique poetry series - live readings by local poets

The next in our series of curated poetry events is on Thursday 30 January at 6.30pm.

About Poets@Stones

Curated by renowned Queensland poet, Brett (B. R.) Dionysius, Poets@Stones is held on the last Thursday of each month, from January through to November, and features readings from three local poets.

Our featured Poets in January are Aoife Hilton, Jarrah L Barton, and Madeleine Dale.

Aoife Hilton (she/her) is a writer and editor based in Meanjin. The first edition of her debut poetry zine I’ll Never Get Over Any Of Them was published in July 2023 via Mid-Latitude Publishing and was acquired by the State Library of Queensland in March 2024. Its second edition was published in September 2024. Her creative work has also appeared in Wingless Dreamer’s Wicked Young Writers Poetry Collection and has been longlisted for The Braag. Her academic work has been accepted for publication in the British Fantasy Society Journal's 2024 Winter edition. Her journalistic work can be found on the ABC News website and other internet places.

Jarrah L. Barton
 (she/her) is a Poet, Author, Actress, and Musician living in Meanjin/Magandjin. She is the founder of Mid-Latitude Publishing, with five of her own published titles, and her poetry has been published by others like Blue Bottle Journal and GLASS Magazine. She has featured her poetry and storytelling at Ruckus, SpeakEasy, Gather Round, Volta, Woodford Folk Festival, and the Queensland Poetry Festival.

Madeleine Dale
(she/her) grew up on Tamborine Mountain and now lives in Brisbane. She holds first-class honours and a Masters degree in Creative Writing from the University of Queensland, where she is currently completing her PhD. Her first chapbook, On Fire with Dangerous Cargo, was published by Queensland Poetry in 2023. Her first full-length collection, Portraits of Drowning, won the 2023 Thomas Shapcott Prize. She was a 2024 MacDowell Fellow.

All our events are free to attend, but bookings are required as seats are limited.
