Nau mai haere mai Electra Business Breakfast is looking forward to welcoming Nicola Willis, MP for Wellington Central and Deputy Leader of the Opposition.  We have invited Nicola to Inspire, Connect and Engage by telling a story about her life and career and how that has inspired her to be a political leader.

This session will cover personal and professional challenges along the way, and her hopes and dreams for the future as a New Zealander.  There will be time for Qs at the end of her address.  With the passing of International Women’s Day 2022 Nicola will touch on #breakthebias in her journey.

PLEASE NOTE: Electra Business Breakfast is not immune from escalating costs that cannot be absorbed any longer.  From 1 April, the price to attend  Breakfast will be $39 including GST, with the usual delicious breakfast at a great venue, friendly B2B networking,  informed speakers and a kind crew  that aims to INSPIRE, CONNECT and ENGAGE.

COVID UPDATE
Electra Business Breakfast can operate at the Karaka Orange traffic light with no limits on attendance, you just need to wear a mask when you are not eating. We no longer need to seat, separate or serve our guests so when you arrive, you will choose your own random table number – seating will be tables of eight.  Our caterer will be masked and serve everyone from the buffet.  When the crew ask you to be seated and masked, please follow our instructions at all times for the safety of you, the crew and the venue, ka pai.
We will keep you informed along the way of any changing circumstances, and if Covid prevents us from operating, we will reschedule first and then transfer or refund tickets as needed.  If it’s been three months since your second dose, get boosted for you, your whānau, your community, and please don’t attend if you are feeling unwell or are a household contact of someone isolating.  We look forward to seeing you all soon.

About the Speaker: Nicola Willis | MP for Wellington Central & Deputy Leader of the Opposition

Nicola Willis is a List MP based in Wellington, having entered Parliament in April 2018, and being re-elected in October 2020. She is the Finance and Social Investment Spokesperson and a member of Parliament’s Finance & Expenditure and the Intelligence & Security Select Committees’.

Before becoming an MP, Nicola held senior management roles at Fonterra. Her work at Fonterra included leadership of the business’s global trade strategy team and permanent membership of the global incident management team. Her work also extended to operational management of Fonterra-owned farms and worked on many major projects alongside Fonterra’s global customers, manufacturing teams and farmer shareholders. Nicola also served on the boards of Export NZ and the policy think-tank New Zealand initiative.

Nicola was a senior advisor to Prime Minister John Key during his first term in Government. She had been a member of his winning 2008 campaign team, a senior advisor during his time as Leader of the Opposition and researcher for then opposition education spokesperson Bill English.

She has also work in a number of small businesses including jobs selling shoes, clothes and bagels.

Nicola is a proud graduate of Victoria University of Wellington with first-class honours degree in English literature. She was a successful university debater, captaining teams and competing around the world. She grew up in Wellington, and today she lives there with her husband Duncan and their four children aged 6, 9, 10 and 12.
