Join Sally & Ruthie for a warm 3-session workshop on conquering potty challenges. Explore enuresis, encopresis, and toileting readiness in a supportive space. This comprehensive course is designed for clinicians, therapists, and professionals working with preschool and elementary age children, providing valuable insights and practical strategies to address potty-related issues.

If you are not able to attend all training sessions, no worries! We will provide you with a video recoding of any missed sessions. Please always feel free to reach out for any questions or concerns. 



Session 1: Understanding and Identifying Potty Challenges

  1. Participants will describe the characteristics of enuresis and encopresis and other potty-related issues.
  2. Overview of toileting readiness signals and indicators of absent skills.
  3. Identifying "can’t" and “won’t” circumstances and strategies for responding to each scenario, including when to seek medical support.

Date & Time: Thursday, April 18, 9 - 11:30 AM 

Location: Bethesda office plus virtual option



Session 2: Trauma, Anxiety, and Developmental Lags in Toileting Success 

 1. Recognizing when trauma, anxiety, or other developmental lags interfere with independent toileting success.

 2. Designing a structured Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach for older preschoolers and young elementary age children experiencing toileting avoidance or reluctance.

 3. Participants will be given homework to complete and practice these skills before the final meeting. Optional clinical consultation can be scheduled.

    Date & Time: Friday, July 19, 9 - 11:30 AM 

    Location: Bethesda office plus virtual option



    Session 3: Implementation and Parental Support 

     1.Reviewing attempts to implement strategies and discussing/revise each clinician's strategies and plans.

     2. Identifying parent work and strategies for supporting parents through the structured approach, including parent involvement in treatment sessions.

      Date & Time: Friday, September 27, 9 - 11:30 AM 

      Location: Bethesda office plus virtual option



      CEU Credits: Participants will receive CEUs from NASW.

       This course is open to licensed clinicians, therapists, educators, and professionals working with preschool and elementary age children.
