Poetry is a vessel that holds the essence of culture. It invites listeners in, quietly opening doors, setting the stage, harmonising voices and making one feel at home.

Our multicultural poetry night promises to lead us into diverse cultural alcoves that speak to us from a point of experience and perspective, blending pain and happiness into a vivid tapestry of words. It offers a portrait of the evolving Australian identity, continually shaped by our collective voices.

This exclusive event is a true celebration, presenting voices from all corners of the globe. Be entranced by festival features and special guests including:

    • Tanmoy Chakraborty - A Bengali poet, columnist, and translator from Kolkata, Tanmoy draws inspiration from Rabindranath Tagore and is known for his profound insights and moving poetry.
    • Afeif Ismail - A bilingual award-winning Sudanese-Australian playwright, poet, and human rights activist, Afeif is widely published in Arabic and English, with his plays produced in WA and internationally.
In collaboration with Vivienne Glance - A writer and performer who blends music, sound, text, light, and movement in her work, Vivienne has a PhD in Creative Writing and is committed to arts development and inclusivity.

    Special Feature:

Poetic Perspectives by the Motherhood Collective - who feature six poets: Bron Bateman, Natalie Damjanovich-Napoleon, Melissa Domiati, Kerry Greer, Miriam Wei Wei Lo and Asha Rajan. They write about motherhood from diverse perspectives, celebrating the universal and unique experiences of mothers.

    Hosted by

The incredible Asha Rajan, a South Indian-Australian writer and editor par excellence, who lives and creates on Whadjuk Noongar Boodjar.

This magical evening will touch on themes of international poetry, language, motherhood, the migrant experience, displacement, culture, community, sense of place, solidarity, and home.
