Perth Poetry Festival 2025

Mother Tongue

An evening of motherhood poetry and performance

Date: Sunday, 21 September 2025
Time: 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Venue: Midland Junction Arts Centre, Midland WA

Mother Tongue brings poetry to the heart of Midland with works that speak in many languages. This one-hour program explores nurture, care, and the quiet strength of mothers through voice, music, and memory.

Expect intimate performances, lyrical storytelling, and moments that resonate long after the final line.

Program

  • Door
    By Selina Peng
A poem, a narrative, a window into the quiet rhythm of a mother and child.
What he sees and plays with, what she unpacks and considers. A tender portrait of love and shared world-building.

  • Deconstructing a Lullaby
    By SoulReserve
A long-form piece weaving lullabies from around the world with verses in multiple languages, tracing the mother-child bond and the myths that cradle us.

  • The Motherhood Collective
Featuring Asha Rajan, Natalie Damjanovich-Napoleon, Melissa Domiati, Carly Blenkhorn, and Miriam Wei Wei Lo. Five poets perform the lived experience of motherhood, from first days to empty nests.

Tickets: $5.
