Event description
Program Overview
This knowledge-building program for teachers is designed to build understanding of Mathematics for the year level they are teaching. Delivered a term in advance, we will take teachers through the lessons, concepts, representations and potential misconceptions for each unit.
What will I learn about?
- Understanding year-level term content
- Run through lessons
- Understanding content, terms and concepts for each unit
- Preparation for potential misconceptions
- Previewing and adapting materials to suit different cohorts
Please note: F–6 courses: Based on units aligned for the Victorian Curriculum.
Years 7–9 courses: Based on units aligned with the Victorian Curriculum, Australian Curriculum, and NSW Syllabus.
The program will be run by Ochre Education leaders Sue Davis and Phil Smith with additional support from Ochre’s education team.
Who is it for?
This program is designed for teachers who want to enrich their understanding of Mathematics for a specific year level. Participants will be taken through each unit and will be prepared for instruction in advance of each term.
How is it structured?
There will be one 1 hour virtual workshop (via Zoom) (scheduled during late mornings AEST / early mornings AWST), for each year level each term. Each year level will be offered separately on different days so teachers can attend more than one if needed; a discount will be applied for teachers attending or schools booking multiple workshops.
All workshops will also be recorded for review.
When does the program run?
The workshops will be offered each term, with content covering the following term so that teachers can prepare for teaching in advance. The Term 1 program (preparing for Term 2) is shown below. The Term 2, Term 3 and Term 4 programs will be released at a later date. Note that Term 4 will cover planning for Term 1.
