Pride Family Shabbat

Join us for a warm and welcoming Friday evening gathering as we mark the start of Pride Month with a joyful and inclusive Shabbat celebration!

Hosted by The Senesh School, Fig Tree, The Neighborhood, and other wonderful community partners, this family-friendly event is a special opportunity to come together, celebrate the beautiful diversity of Jewish families, and uplift the fullness of our identities with music, crafts, cooking, and Shabbat rituals.

🌟What to Expect

✨ Shabbat Rituals & Blessings – Welcome Shabbat in a loving, inclusive space with candle lighting, blessings, and joyful songs.
🎨 Hands-On Crafts, Cooking & Activities – Get creative with hands-on activities that show off your Pride, including colorful crafts and a cooking station where we’ll make a special Shabbat treat together.
🎶 Music, Stories, and Songs – Join in uplifting Shabbat songs and read stories that bring Jewish joy and belonging to all.
🥖 Delicious Shabbat Dinner – Enjoy a kosher meal with a welcoming community of Queer families and friends.

Pride Family Shabbat is a joyful and affirming gathering to celebrate June as Pride Month and to honor the many beautiful ways we build and define family in the Jewish community. This special evening is more than just marking the start of Shabbat—it’s a chance for Queer Jewish families to come together, be seen, heard, and celebrated as an essential part of our vibrant Jewish community. With music, crafts, delicious food, and plenty of fun, we’ll share traditions, make memories, and experience the joy and beauty of Shabbat in a space where all families truly belong! 

This event is open to all Queer families, friends, and allies—however your family defines or identifies. Activities are designed for parents and children to participate together.

ABOUT OUR PARTNERS

Fig Tree is an independent Jewish education program for children ages 3 – 13. Our mission is to inspire a lifelong love of Judaism in every learner and our diverse and inclusive community warmly welcomes all families.  We believe that accessible Jewish education empowers Jewish families, strengthens Jewish community, and leads to joyful Jewish practice. Our learners explore Jewish culture, values, ritual, holidays, and Hebrew language in a fun, relatable way. In small weekly classes led by experienced teachers, we incorporate elements of art, music, drama, and movement to foster a meaningful learning experience and deepened sense of Jewish identity for each student.  

Keshet works for the full equality of all LGBTQ+ Jews and our families in Jewish life. We strengthen Jewish communities. We equip Jewish organizations with the skills and knowledge to build LGBTQ+-affirming communities; create spaces in which all queer Jewish youth feel seen and valued; and advance LGBTQ+ rights nationwide.

The Neighborhood: An Urban Center for Jewish Life is an inclusive and welcoming community and cultural hub in Brooklyn. We produce programs to fill gaps, raise up underrepresented perspectives, and welcome the thousands of Brooklynites that have not yet found their Jewish connection point. We have created a welcoming space that reflects the spirit of Brooklyn–future-thinking and deeply historical, iconoclastic and sacred.

The Senesh School is an open and inclusive Jewish day school, where K-8 students from all different backgrounds grow into ever more curious, kind, and confident people. Senesh cultivates intellectual curiosity in a rigorous academic environment that teaches the whole child, guiding our students with Jewish values and challenging them to be agents of change toward a more just world.
