Principles of Puppetry
Event description
This four-week workshop gives performers the foundational skills and techniques that you will need to create your own material with the puppet of your choice.
Each week, we will focus on a different movement and motivation for your puppets. In between each session, you will make a short video to share for review in-class. We will also cover the basics of storytelling with puppetry and what goes into becoming a puppeteer for television and film.
Glove puppets, hand-and-rod (aka Muppet style), live hand, and tabletop puppets are welcome! Voicing puppets is optional, as we will focus on emoting with our puppets through movement and breath.
This workshop is open to beginners and performers with experience in puppetry.
