Be Well | See Well : Art, Anxiety, and the Aesthetic Abyss.
"Creativity is our natural state of being. Never increasing or decreasing, neither waxing nor waning. Creativity doesn’t go anywhere. Creativity never leaves you. Creativity will never abandon you or berate you. What hampers this energy is you, or more precisely, the idea of a separate you—the conceptual creator bound by dualism, the belief of good and bad, wrong or right. These simple yet complex thought patterns are what cause creative contraction.” —Brett Canet-Gibson
Drawing on four decades of creative expression, from Musician to Feature Writer, and Photographer to Creative Director, Brett Canet-Gibson has lived experience of meddlesome mindstates: from a mind mired in the muddy, muddy middle of mediocrity, to the high highs—and the lowest of lows battling burnout, self-doubt, and aesthetic anxiety.
On the eve of his 60th birthday, Canet-Gibson examines making meaning through mindfulness, the importance of breath, and the beauty of presence. About seeing, being comfortable with your own authentic vision, and the ability to be yourself in a creative universe where an unsung soul signifies stagnation.
Creativity is a force, chart your course—begin!
