Event description

Due to the snap COVID-19 Lockdown in the ACT, this session has been postponed until September.

This event is being taught by our new trainers, Jarrod and Aminya.  If you are starting out, you will first need some plants to garden at home or in your allotment.  Vegetables and flowers together make a sense satisfying, food providing environment for you.  It can also give you a more healthy garden, as the mix can encourage beneficial insects to help you in your task.

This session will help you get started.  It covers how vegetables reproduce and how people can assist the plants in this process.  As an introductory session it will look at the amazing ways vegetables and flowers have of making new plants.  As gardeners, we need to understand the different ways and learn how to encourage reproduction of the things we want to grow in our garden.

  1. Planting seeds for seedlings
  2. Direct sowing seeds
  3. Taking cuttings
  4. Encouraging off-sets

At the end of the session, you will have enough understanding to face the seed catalogues and nursery aisles with a better understanding of what is likely to happen and how to get started from friend’s plant cuttings.  Then the fun begins.
