[FREE PORT PIRIE WORKSHOP]: Holding Space For Suicide Distress
Event description
About the workshop:
Explore a non-clinical approach to sitting with people experiencing suicide distress, informed by lived experience and facilitated by peers.
Who this workshop is for:
This workshop is an introductory session to an alternative approach for community members, peer workers, family and friends - anyone in the community who wants to learn skills around more effectively supporting other people in distress who may also be struggling with suicidal thoughts.
Themes covered:
This workshop is non-clinical and avoids harmful risk assessment and referral strategies that are heavily leaned on in other approaches.

Structure of the workshop and facilitator:
This three-hour workshop is available free to anyone with an interest in this important topic. The session will be facilitated by Chloe (Alt2Su Peer Project Worker) and Emrys (Peer Training Coordinator).
