Event description

Experience the vibrant culture of Easter Island as Puku Rangi Tea tours for the first time in Marlborough to closing the Welcoming Week Celebration!

Since 2012, they have been dedicated to preserving and showcasing traditional Rapa Nui music and dance. Their vibrant performances include the Hoko warrior dance, resonating with the spirit of the Māori Haka, storytelling through Takona body painting and ancestral narratives, Kai Kai string games and the rhythmic sounds of Tahitian ukulele and drums.

Puku Rangi Tea currently performs three shows a week at the Tahatai Hotel in Hanga Roa, Rapa Nui, and has participated in various festivals throughout its history, including:

The tour holds significant cultural importance due to Rapa Nui deep ancestral connections with Aotearoa, offering a unique opportunity for cultural engagement and community connection.

Their itinerary includes high-profile engagements, such as:

  • Music Workshop on Friday 12 at 4pm - Koha Entry - RSVP Required

  • Dance Workshop on Friday 12 at 6pm - Koha Entry - RSVP Required

  • Concert: Live music and dances on Sunday 14 Spetember. Doors open at 3:30pm, Event start at 4pm

  • Koha - Entry - RSVP Required (Limited Capacity)

We are also excited to feature the local guest band "Matices", who will open the concert with a vibrant performance of live Andean and Latin American music.
