Event description

Do you have a framework and documents that guide your organisation to deliver high quality service and meet the requirements of the Aged Care Quality Standards?

This in-person one-day workshop is for CHSP-funded service providers who want to do a health check on their Quality Management System and make sure it drives quality.

The workshop includes discussion, case studies, the opportunity to review some of your organisation’s documents + hands-on activities.

Why is a Quality health check important?

Making sure your systems and processes meet the requirements of the Standards is vital. Getting your quality frameworks and systems right will help your team work consistently and support you to deliver the best outcomes to older people.

It will also reduce the rush before an audit.

This workshop is for you no matter what stage you’re at

If you already have frameworks and a system to support quality in your organisation, bring them along. We’ll share some fundamentals and ideas, and you can review what you have.

If you’re developing a quality framework or new quality system, bring along what you’ve done so far. We’ll work with you to identify ways to build and strengthen what you’ve got.

What we’ll cover

We’ll work through practical steps for developing a quality management framework and a robust system to support continuous improvement.

We’ll share:

  • Ideas and stories
  • Best practice approaches
  • How to weave the standards into your work
  • Approaches to building a culture of quality and improvement
  • Tips for building staff buy-in and capability
  • Resources to help you keep on track
  • Tips on how to reduce the “rush to the audit” and make sure quality management ticks on throughout the year
  • Internal audit readiness checklist
  • Tips on building staff readiness and confidence before external audits.

You’ll reflect on what you have at your organisation, how it’s serving you, what the gaps are and most of all – the opportunities.

You‘ll commit to some key actions to strengthen your organisation’s approach to quality and improvement.

What to bring

If your organisation has them, please bring:

  • Quality Management System or map
  • Strategic plan or business plan
  • Care/clinical governance framework
  • Risk framework and risk appetite statement
  • Care/clinical indicators.

If your organisation does not have these documents, that’s ok.

Follow up session

One month after the workshop there will be a one-hour follow-up online session to check in with you and see whether you’ve been able to apply your learnings to your organisation’s practice. It’s also an opportunity to briefly review documents or tools you may have developed to support quality and meeting the Standards in your organisation.

Who’s it for

Managers, CEOs, compliance and quality managers from CHSP-funded aged care services. Team members from smaller CHSP providers are strongly encouraged to attend. Board members welcome.

Cost

This event is provided at no cost to CHSP-funded aged care providers.
