Times: 3:45 - 5:00pm
Parking: Available under the centre.
Public Transport: 1 min walk from Southbank Train Startion.
The Queensland Kendo Renmei hosts a inter-club training once a month to bring together members from various clubs to practice together, build connections and strengthan friendships. It is a 1 hour mawarkigeiko in the following format:
- 3:15pm Arrive, everyone to do their own warm up.
- 3:45pm Bow in in a circle.
- 3:45-4:10pm Mawarigeiko 2-3 minutes each
- 4:10-4:20pm Quick break
- 4:20-4:45pm Mawarigeiko 2-3 minutes each
- 4:45pm Bow in circle and finish up.
- 4:45pm-5:00pm Optional cool-down strech.
Rules:
- Everyone is equal at this training (no sensei), and must treat each other with respect, care, kindness and politeness. Unnecessary aggression will not be tolerated.
- Everyone's safety is of upmost importance - both psychological safety and wellbeing, and physical safety - manage your own safety and that of others at all times.
- No instruction (except for individual advice if necessary - but avoid stopping keiko to give advice).
- Call out and report any behaviours (to the QKR) that are not in line with the AKR Policies: Code of Conduct; Member Protection; Child safety; Improper use of drugs and medicine.
- Step out to rest at any time - manage your own fatigue.
- Check your equipment before keiko starts.
- Everyone is welcome regardless of age and grading, but you must be in bogu. If you are a beginner announce this at bow-in time.
- Respect everyone’s style of kendo. This training follows immediately after QLD Squad Training, so some members will be in shiai-kendo mode – please respect this.
- This is a friendly keiko - please retain the friendly atmosphere during the keiko.
- Everyone must have paid their fees - this will be checked.
- We will usually go for a bite to eat and drinks afterwards in Southbank. Everyone is welcome!

By attending the Murray Evans Sports and Aquatic Centre, including, swimming, coaching, training or multipurpose court and or sport usage you declare that you are medically able to participate in physical activity, and acknowledge that you understand accept the inherent risks of undertaking these physical activities.
You release and indemnify Somerville House to the Full extent permitted by law in respect of any claim, loss liability or expense arising as a result of or in connection with your participation in any Murray Evans Sports and Aquatic Centre activities.
While all efforts are made to ensure your safety, Somerville House takes no responsibility for injury, damage or loss of property.
You agree to the below conditions
- No Smoking
- No alcohol or glass bottles or containers are permitted
- No illegal or offensive substance or items, weapons, or sharp objects of any kind are permitted in this facility.
- Offensive or inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated and will result in immediate eviction from the Facility.
- We do not accept liability for any injury or death to any person whilst in this facility.
- No pets or animals are permitted at this facility
- Follow all signage directive
