Circular Economy Precinct Launch
Event description
Join us for the official launch of the Queen Victoria Market Circular Economy Precinct (CEP) at the Queen Victoria Market!
The CEP is a major initiative of the City of Melbourne to stimulate the development of the circular economy.
This launch kicks off the City's collaboration with social enterprise STREAT to implement a range of initiatives, with a strategic focus on Queen Victoria Market (QVM).
These initiatives include:
a 12-week 'reuse pilot' in one of the food precincts at QVM to reduce single-use takeaway packaging, supported by social enterprise B-Alternative;
circular food production using STREAT's on-site Moving Feast Innovation Kitchen at the Purpose Precinct, to recover surplus produce to create new food products and meals for those in the city experiencing food insecurity; and
a program of classes and workshops aimed at educating the community on how they can be a part of a circular economy.
Meet the people behind the projects, learn more about what's planned, and get hands-on in circular making and learning at this event! Stick around to grab some lunch at one of the participating food vendors.
RSVP essential.
