Event description

Dear families,

The group formed for term 4 at Raizes Brasileiras is a mixed age group that can be described as bellow.

Universo do Brincar (Children from 5 to 8 years old): Workshops, stories, games and group projects will increase children's vocabulary and motivate them to engage to each other in Portuguese. Saturday, fortnightly, 4:30pm -5:30pm Paddington
Universo do Ensinar (9 to teens, fluent in Portuguese): Create and practice language teaching techniques. Practice the art of storytelling, teaching and translating. Understand how to teach children and assess them. Saturday, fortnightly, 4:00pm - 5:30pm Paddington

Lessons on Saturday will be: 15 and 29 of October, 12 and 26 of November, and 3 of December.

Place meetings are in PADDINGTON

ENROLMENT ENDS ON THE 8th OF OCTOBER. Limited vacancy.

Dr. Lilian Fleuri is a linguist, educator, and cultural leader with over 25 years of international experience. Holding a Ph.D. in Critical Translation Studies, she has taught languages, conducted research, and led cultural initiatives in Brazil, Mexico, the United States, Canada, and Australia. A true polyglot and passionate teacher, Lilian combines academic expertise with innovative, hands-on methods to make language learning engaging and effective to individual and groups.

She offers a range of language services, including:

Online Portuguese Lessons: Personalized classes for all ages and backgrounds, with a free trial and flexible packages to help students achieve real progress.
Walk & Talk Project: An immersive experience that takes learning outside the classroom—walking, talking, and practicing Portuguese in real-life contexts. It can be combined with online lessons for deeper learning.
Workshops & Conferences: As founder of Raízes Brasileiras, Lilian actively contributes to conversations about multilingualism, heritage language maintenance, and cultural identity. She runs workshops for families and communities to help children to grow bilingual. Workshops are in-presence and online. Dr Fleuri was a featured speaker at many conferences around the world.

With her unique mix of scholarship, creativity, and community engagement, Dr. Lilian Fleuri helps students and families not only learn a language but also connect with culture, identity, and belonging.
