Join us for in 2026 for Readers - Books and Conversation, our monthly conversation series celebrating books and readers through in-depth yet relaxed discussions with authors about their work, creative process, and the ideas that inspire them. Hosted by renowned interviewer and curator Michaela Kalowski with book sales and signings at the door.

This April, we’re thrilled to welcome Kathryn Heyman.

Kathryn Heyman is an award-winning novelist, memoirist, poet and playwright, and the author of seven novels, the acclaimed memoir Fury, a poetry collection, and numerous works for stage and BBC Radio. Her writing has received major recognition in Australia and the UK, including an Arts Council of England Writers Award, the Wingate and Southern Arts Awards, and nominations for the Women’s Prize for Fiction, the Kibble Prize, and multiple state and international literary awards.

Her memoir Fury won the Copyright Agency Author Fellowship and is currently in development as a feature film. Kathryn has also held prestigious writing fellowships at the University of Glasgow and Westminster College, Oxford, and founded the Australian Writers Mentoring Program.

Her latest novel, Circle of Wonders, is a deeply personal and emotionally powerful work inspired by Kathryn’s experience caring for her mother and sister at the end of their lives. The novel follows a woman facing terminal illness as she creates a “Book of Wonders”, a record of small, luminous moments all while navigating fractured family relationships, love, grief, and reconciliation. Circle of Wonders has been widely praised as courageous, beautiful, and profoundly moving.
