    Our featured author: Suzie Miller

Suzie Miller is a contemporary international playwright, screenwriter and librettist, drawn to complex human stories often exploring injustice. Miller’s plays have been produced in over 40 productions around the world and won multiple prestigious awards. Her drama Prima Facie Won the 2020 AWGIE for Drama; the 2020 David Williamson Award for Outstanding Theatre Writing; the 2020 prestigious Major AWGIE; and the Griffin Award 2018. It has now been translated in 20+ languages. Most recently Prima Facie enjoyed extraordinary acclaim marking Miller’s West End debut produced by Empire Street Productions and starring Jodie Comer. The production transferred to Broadway in 2023. Both the Australian and the West End productions have won and been nominated for multiple prestigious awards. Two newly commissioned plays of Miller’s premiered in 2022: Anna K, for Malthouse Theatre; and RBG: Of Many, One for Sydney Theatre Company starring acclaimed Australian actor and our September readers guest, Heather Mitchell.

Originally from Melbourne, Miller's educational background includes studies in immunology and microbiology at Monash University, followed by a law degree from the University of New South Wales. She initially worked as a human rights lawyer and advocate for children's rights. It was during this period that Miller delved into playwriting, studying the craft at the National Institute of Dramatic Art and beginning her journey as a playwright. Alongside her burgeoning career, she met and subsequently married Robert Beech-Jones, with whom she has two children. In 2010, Miller relocated to London with her family, dedicating herself to a full-time career in theatre writing. Currently, she divides her time between London and Sydney.
