Energy upgrades programs to address cost of living and emissions
Event description
*Please note this event is for local government representatives only.
A forum for local governments
The Yarra Energy Foundation (YEF) invites local governments to this knowledge sharing forum with Hume City Council, for a deep dive on how the Council's Hume Home Energy Upgrades program is helping reduce emissions and cost of living pressures for residents, with attention on low-income households.
This latest program is an expansion of the recently completed Hume Solar Roll-out program, which facilitated over $2 million of investment into clean energy technologies by the Hume community, will equate to around 41,000 tonnes of avoided carbon dioxide, and save Hume residents an estimated $9.5 million over the life of the installations.
Hear from YEF, Hume City Council, and the suppliers about this all-in-one program helping homes to electrify appliances, install solar, and upgrade insulation and energy efficiency.
Why should local government representatives attend?
- See how electrification & solar programs can be effective in Hume's context to reduce community emissions, boost renewable uptake, and contribute to net-zero targets and climate emergency commitments.
- Learn from a current program with quantiative results, including the practical examples of what we've done to tailor the program for success in Hume's local context.
- Share your own experience, whether with your own program, or what you'd like to see in your LGA context.
- Gain insights about program design, funding models, and implementation strategies that you could apply to other local energy and emissions programs.
- Understand how Hume City Council were able to advocate internally and justify budget allocation and report ROI from the program.
- See how a program can be tailored for low-income and concession households to materially improve equity outcomes for your community.
- A chance to connect with other councils and industry stakeholders on how these programs could be effective in your LGA context.
The event will be in-person only and not recorded. Morning tea and light refreshments will be provided.
