    Event description

Future-proof your workforce by reframing allied health roles.

Join Dr Susan Nancarrow to explore the practical facilitators of, and barriers to, task reallocation between health professional roles; and between health professional roles and the delegated workforce. This insightful workshop is designed to help you navigate and expand your professional scope within healthcare.

Every health profession is currently grappling with shortages. Compounded by a complex health care system and a unique context of global circumstances, there is an imperative to look at solving existing workforce shortages with new and different solutions. This workshop will explore the individual and structural factors that unconsciously limit workforce capacity. By understanding these constraints, we can uncover opportunities and drivers for change. We will focus on sustainability, future challenges, and how to utilise our existing workforce and skills in order to more effectively meet patient needs.

What you'll get from this workshop:

    • Structured Process: Understand your professional identity and the factors shaping and reinforcing your boundaries.
    • Organisational Insight: Grasp how your role fits within your organisation and navigate relationships, governance, and power structures.
    • Practical Examples: Real-world scenarios illustrating how to drive change and improve healthcare delivery.
    • Role Redefinition: Explore possibilities for rethinking professional roles to enhance healthcare delivery.
    • Implementation Tools: Structured tools to help you initiate and implement changes.
    • Exclusive Online Access: Your learning will be supported with 6-months' access to all Reframing Professional Boundaries resources, plus an interactive online learning community, through The Allied Health Academy.
    • Monthly Check-ins: Regular sessions to support your change implementation journey.

By the end of the 4-hour workshop, you will be empowered with the understanding and tools you need to redesign allied health professional roles. You will be equipped with an outline strategy which can be further developed and refined with peer support within the learning community, as well as throughout your monthly check-ins. This transformative and hands-on workshop will allow you to fully optimise your knowledge and skills to deliver patient care in the best possible manner.

    This course is ideal for:

    • Individual Clinicians wanting to overcome organisational barriers and work to their full scope of practice.
    • Professional Groups seeking greater recognition for their roles and responsibilities.
    • Professional Groups aiming to expand their professional repertoire into new areas.
    • Team Leaders or Clinicians looking to redesign models of care to better meet patient needs.
    • Anyone interested in understanding how professional roles are constructed and reinforced within health organisations and systems.

Despite current healthcare challenges, including global workforce shortages, population changes, and technological innovations, healthcare systems are still primarily structured around outdated models and hierarchies rather than individual competence. Moreover, healthcare focusses predominantly on an illness model, rather than prevention and restoration. By joining Reframing Professional Boundaries, you'll be better prepared for future challenges, learn how to recognise and identify specific skills and expertise of allied health professionals, and focus on creating new career pathways for your existing healthcare workers.

The workshop will be held at the Southern Cross University Gold Coast Campus which is located adjacent to the Gold Coast Airport. Free parking is available as per the map below. Morning tea will be provided. Please note any dietary requirements when you book your ticket.
